Cicer arietinum (Chickpea) is a self-pollinated legume crop with a diploid set of chromosomes (2n=2x=16) and an estimated genome size of 738 Mb. Chickpea originated in an area of present-day south-eastern Turkey, adjoining Syria and was one of the founder crops of modern agriculture. |
